WHAT IS INGRESS?
Ingress is a game developed by Niantic Labs@Google, an internal startup company within Google.
WHAT KIND OF GAME IS INGRESS?
Ingress is a gps-based capture the flag game. Using the smartphone application, players can interact with the flags known as "portals" and capture them for their team. Portals range from famous/historical landmarks, statues, sculptures, other public works of art down to parks, restaurants, museums, and other points of interests.
WHY DO PLAYERS NEED TO BREAK LAWS?
NO. Players are NOT required to break laws and must avoid breaking them! It is the player's responsibility to be aware and to follow local laws & regulations. Actions such as when treaspassing private areas, violating other people's Human Rights and Privacy, or playing while driving is not only against the law but also breaks the game's Terms of Service.
ARE YOU GUYS PLOTTING SOMETHING BAD?
No, we simply play a game. Any other activities performed by players outside of the game are his/hers and does not constitute the rest of the Ingress community. Be advised that we do NOT actually hack anything, or plan to fire onto something or someone, or to do any harm at all. All interactions are performed from within the smartphone application and sent to Google servers.
DO YOU GET PAID TO DO THIS?
No. We don't get paid or compensated to play and go around town to do this.
